Faith Evans Pleads No Contest to DUI Charges

R&B singer Faith Evans pleaded no contest Monday to the lesser charge of reckless driving stemming from two misdemeanor DUI charges she received this summer. A Los Angeles court also sentenced her to 36 months of probation.

The Grammy Award-winning songstress was arrested last August at a checkpoint near Marina del Rey, California when police suspected that she might have been intoxicated. Evans was taken into custody and her vehicle was impounded. She was released the following morning on bail.

The former wife of legendary rapper Christopher "Notorious B.I.G." Wallace is no stranger to brushes with the law. Six years ago, Evans and her current husband Todd Russaw were arrested for drug possession. Investigators found cocaine and marijuana in the couple's vehicle after a routine traffic stop in Atlanta. Evans and her husband managed to escape jail time by opting to go into a pretrial drug abuse intervention program for 13 weeks.

Now, in addition to probation, Evans is ordered to pay $300 in penalties and complete a three-month alcohol program.
