The 'Blade' trilogy star Wesley Snipes is finally going to prison and has been ordered to voluntarily give himself up to a federal correctional facility in Pennsylvania next week.
Snipes has been relentless in trying to steer clear of getting locked up since his 2008 conviction for willful failure to file income tax returns by having his legal team work overtime appealing his case. Luckily, Snipes was acquitted of five other charges, including felony tax fraud and conspiracy.
After Snipes was found guilty, the 48-year-old action-adventure actor appealed to the appellate court in Atlanta, but it upheld the conviction and sentence. Snipes' eager beaver defense lawyers begged for leniency, and he was freed on bail to challenge the ruling.
Last July, however, the United States Court of Appeals affirmed Snipes' convictions, and he was mandated to surrender to authorities on Sept. 2, but a U.S. District Court judge granted him a postponement pending a retrial hearing this month.
Now, Snipes latest appeal fell on deaf ears, and he is headed to the slammer and must report to the Federal Correctional Institution McKean in Lewis Run, Pa., by noon on Dec. 9. The prison is a medium-security facility with an adjacent satellite prison camp for lesser offenders.
But wait, it ain't over till it's over! Snipes' legal team plan to file yet another appeal on his behalf with the U.S. Supreme Court.

Your comment is my sentiment. When are they going to deal with those in Washington that didn't pay their taxes. Some famous actors and actress (other than Wesley Snipes) owe taxes, when are they going to deal with them. The country is broke because they are sending workers hard earn money to people sitting in prison. They are sending out Social Security money to people who have been died for years. They are sending out checks to wealthy people with land, claiming it's farm land, large checks of 45000 or more. When does the madness end?

Obviously Wesley is being used as a public example to scare everyone into conforming to the edicts of the IRS. OK, people should pay their taxes, I get that . . .
But, wait a minute.
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but as I recall, there is an entire corporate crime cabal of Wall Street banking and financial institutions who caused the greatest economic catastrophe since the Great Depression, have pocketed billions of dollars (much of which has yet to be accounted for), and to this very day are still collecting astonishing bonuses . . .
Um, shouldn't some of these guys be going to prison, for way longer than 3 years, before we start putting the thumb screws to Wesley Snipes?
