I don't know what it is with women and their nails but with many state budgets already in the toilet do you REALLY think the police have the time and resources to devote to your bad manicure??
Well, apparently one woman felt that her low-budget tacky nails deserved the full force of a Florida police district when she called 9-1-1 FOUR times to complain about her nail work. Her nails were too short and she paid too much, and what were the police going to do about it?
And you know what the police did: arrested her. For 9-1-1 abuse. Yay!

Woman arrested for calling 911 to complain about manicure: MyFoxORLANDO.com
Now I know we all want to look good for the holidays but dayum. There was probably some poor schmuck being assaulted cross town that the police couldn't get to because of this woman and her foolishness.
For the record, the place to go when you are dissatisfied with your service provider is the Better Business Bureau.
9-1-1 may be a joke, but it's for EMERGENCIES people.

The system is at fault here. The citizens have been programmed to rely on the 911 band and no other police contact number is available to them even though, it exists.
Here, we have an altercation or an incendiary to a chaotic situation. The Better Business Bureau is not who you call in this situation. Police will be our first mediator as foolish as it is designed.
The system only have to make both the emegency and the police contact numbers available so that the 911# is not dialed when infact the police is who they want.

The police do promote 911 for emergency use. If you need another contact number than use the phone book or call an operator. In most any case the police won't arrest you for one stupid call. Of course when you dail back three additional times then an arrest is merited.
It would be nice to see BV focus on more positive issues in 2011. The stories lately seem to be like episodes of bad daytime TV. Idiots, thiefs, corrupt officials, sex scandals, etc.
With all the issues facing the AA community it would be nice to see a little more self help & education articles.

The system is at fault here? Really???
Let's review, shall we . . .
911 is a direct access call code for life threatening situations requiring police, fire, and EMT related emergency response services.
Oh, but wait . . . I think I can see it now, what this lady required was emergency mental health response services!
We've all seen "bad hair" days, yes?
Just imagine the quagmires of chaos that could erupt with a distraught "bad nails" lady gone berserk.
Now that I could understand!!!
OK, it's just an idea for a comedy skit . . . but seriously, calling 911 for a bad nails incident really does warrant some sort of mental health evaluation, and that is no joke.

Here we go again, blaiming the system rather than taking responsibility for our own irresponsible actions. She was wrong to tie up an officer of the law for something as trivial as a poor nail job. She should have been arrested and held for abusing the 911 system. I hope she is fined and given community service. She needs to be made an example of to prevent others from doing something so stupid.

What a knucklehead.
Diva-tude has gone way too far this time. 911 is for life-death emergencies. She could have called the non-emergency line if she felt she was wronged, then followed up with a call to the Dept. of Consumer Affairs.
