With the start of the preliminary hearing for Michael Jackson's former doctor Conrad Murray on manslaughter charges, get ready for a tidal wave of sad, sick and sorry news to flow about the dead superstar.
Murray, who was Jackson's personal physician when he died in June 2009, is in Los Angeles Superior Court for the next two weeks before a judge will decide if there is enough evidence to hold a full trial.
If I was a betting man, I would wager a lot of money we will see a full trial later this year.
Judge Michael Pastor wouldn't deny the world another viewing of the Michael Jackson death sideshow and a chance to hash over the details of how the iconic performer met his doom, would he?
As an appetizer, Jackson watchers will get to analyze the testimony of about 30 witnesses over the next two weeks. Medical experts will be there to testify about the probable cause of Jackson's death, which county officials determined to to be acute intoxication from propofol, a powerful sedative.
So we won't get the images of a crying mother Katherine, stone-faced papa Joe, tearful sisters LaToya and Janet on the witness stand at this phase, but just wait for the full trial to take place, when these scenes will undoubtedly capture the attention of the news media worldwide.
Murray, who faces a four-year prison sentence, has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges. His lawyer admits the doctor gave Jackson propofol but said it was only a 25 milligram dose, a relatively small amount and less than the amount found in his system.
Court watchers say Murray's lawyers will testify they believe Jackson awoke and gave himself the lethal amount of propofol while Murray was out of the room.
But that testimony won't be presented until the full trial takes place. Again, with all of the intrigue that will surround that trial, is there any way Judge Pastor won't rule in favor of a full trial?

As much as I enjoyed and loved Michael and the Jackson family, I don't believe this man is guilty of anything. Remember, whether you accept it or not, MJ was a JUNKIE of some sort all his life! And I believe it caught up with him. If this man is guilty of killing Mike, then every "hanger on" who refused to tell him no over the years has some accountability also. People bowing to the king of pop did not start with Dr. Murray and I don't think it's fair to search out someone when another Junkie OD's. I this case it will simply result in the lost of two valuable people and talents from the black community.

Finally the time has arrived to begin hearing the truth about the death of Michael Jackson, the greatest entertainer, innovator and humanitarian of our time. There is no doubt in my mind there will be a full trial. I pray to God for justice for Michael. It is so long overdue.

Michael was not a junkie, as you put it. He took prescription medications mainly for chronic pain which all began when he suffered burns from that Pepsi commercial in 1984. Dr. Murray was negligent in so many ways, and he may have had help from others that we don't know fully about yet. He should have never given him propofol in the first place because it is not supposed to be done in a home environment; he did not have any monitoring equipment on hand which is an absolute necessity; he did not know how to perform CPR although he was a cardiologist; he hid evidence and delayed calling 911 which all resulted in the death of Michael. He was being paid very well and should have taken better care of his patient, but he did not.
