Oprah Winfrey's new OWN channel averaged 1 million viewers with its first night of prime-time programming Saturday, according to preliminary Nielsen figures released Monday.
That's up a whopping 389 percent from what Discovery Health, the network OWN replaced, averaged a year ago.
As part of the initial outing, the premiere of Season 25: 'Oprah Behind The Scenes,' which follows Winfrey as she records the final season of her daytime talk show, averaged 1.16 million viewers Saturday night.
The second episode of 'Behind The Scenes' averaged 1.19 million, according to Nielsen.
OWN launched Jan. 1 and replaced Discovery Health on cable systems around the country.
The network is available in roughly 67 percent of the nation's more than 114 million TV homes.
The network is a partnership between Winfrey and the Discovery Channel.

So that is what you think about Black People, poor thing... She is a Phenominal Woman and you can't touch her with a ten foot pole. If you like her then fine but why the name calling.

Yes, she is a Phenominal Woman. Would you call Paula Dean a Fat Monkey? Both women are Phenominal in their own right. Oprah has given millions of dollars to underserved people of all colors. Instead of bashing her, learn from her.
The idea that a black woman can rise from poverty to be who she is phenomonal in itself.

Today I tried to watch Little Women on OWN, but I was dismayed to find I was allowed to watch just three minutes at a time. I expected better of Oprah and thought she would use her influence to restrict commercial interruption.
I love Cash Cab, but soon after it arrived, it disappeared. Dr. Phil is overdone, on the other hand. There is just too much Dr. Phil.
Ophrah, please provide intellectual shows such as you old book clubs. Programs to inform and educate are scarce on the ground on television.
