After trudging through snowy Syracuse, New York to speak with Soledad O'Brien last night, I took some time to have a conversation with a man that I respect, Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. Congressman Jackson reiterated his long-standing commitment to improving educational access in our country. We also seemed to be in agreement that our nation has a great deal of work to do when it comes to ensuring that our children have access to an equal and high quality education.
After hearing Congressman Jackson's position on the issue, we both realized that Kelley Williams-Bolar is effectively a modern day version of Rosa Parks. The same way that Rosa violated the law in order to get access to the front of the bus, Kelley Williams-Bolar also violated the law in order to get access to the same educational system that is enjoyed by people in the suburbs. Congressman Jackson brought up the notion of moving this issue to the federal government and seeking to amend the United States Constitution. I'll admit that this never crossed my mind, but I certainly like the idea a lot.
Jackson made a clear point that rather than having thousands of municipal and city-based solutions to the educational problem, there must be one meaningful solution provided at the federal level. The case of Kelley Williams-Bolar can be used to educate others about the depth of this problem and our elected officials must step forward in order to make things right. While some schools serve as pathways to a liberated life, far too many schools are statically-proven pipelines to feed the prison industrial complex.
I am hopeful that Attorney General Eric Holder and President Barack Obama will get directly involved in the issue. This is not a matter of saying that what Kelley did was legal. We must remember that we live in a nation where it was once illegal for slaves to learn how to read. Violating an unjust law is sometimes quite an ethical sacrifice, for it often opens the door to making the uncomfortable changes necessary for our society to function at a higher level. So, just like Rosa Parks broke the law for good reason during the Civil Rights Movement, Kelley Williams-Bolar is inspiring all of us to demand what is right for our children. It's time to modify the United States Constitution so that all of our kids are valued equally.

This is a truly sad comment. I will make this short. Rosa Parks stated herself that at the time of her defiance she was not fighting for rights . The WOMAN was tired. When WOMAN get tired they make decisions. This Woman with two daughters made a decision to keep her children safe and find better education. Let the punishment fit the crime. We all lied about something, age, dates, location, how many years of experience, all of which is falsifying information. Give me a break. Fine her, Give her community hours at the school. However, they hired a PI and a prosecuting Attorney. They could have given the girls a scholarship with all the money wasted! Dishonesty is never the right way but it is a means by which is used to fake it until you make it ..my friend ! Come on, speak on the real crime people get 2 years for killing dogs and 1 yr for killing ateenager as long as you are the police ! 10 days for sending your children to a better school, but less than 30 days for beating a wonman down in a resteraunt in front of her child. I say she can lie all she wants to make a better way. She was going to pay it forward teaching someone else's kids .. so theres your community for ya !!

Jon Burge, Ex-Cop Convicted of Lying About Black Male Torture, to Keep $3,000 Monthly Pension
Yes, but even though he broke the law he was forced to. His heart was really in the right place. He was really working within a broke system that let black people get away with crimes.
It is an unfair system and he was only doing what he felt was right!
Get my point!

"Congressman Jackson reiterated his long-standing commitment to improving educational access in our country" - Really..did he?
Why DIDN'T Mr. Jackson SUPPORT "school vouchers"?
Did he NOT want to "improve educational access" for those students?
Jackson is a LIAR..a big government liberal that supports the teacher's unions and the current educational establishment in America. If "improving" education DOESN'T include the federal government gaining MORE power over the individual..and DOESN'T appease the Teacher's Unions - Congressman Jackson isn't interested.
Paying LIP SERVICE to a constitutional amendment - give me a break.
What you can do Mr. Jackson..is go ask Daddy (Jesse Jackson Sr.) why he abandoned the pro-life movement before he ran for president ( he was staunchly pro-life in the late 70's) - it appears he sold out innocent babies in order to get the ABORTION vote that DEMOCRATS traditionally enjoy?
"I am hopeful that Attorney General Eric Holder and President Barack Obama will get directly involved in the issue."
Obama already injected himself into the education issue Boyce, remember?
He told ALL THOSE BLACK KIDS in D.C. (that were attending the school his daughters attend) that they could no longer have the "school vouchers" that enabled them to attend his daughter's school.
President Bush supported those "vouchers" for those poor black kids..I wonder why Obama OPPOSED them?
Probably 'cause the Teacher's Unions opposed them..and he cares more about those votes..than about "improving" education for the less privileged..as does Jackson Jr..as did Jackson Sr.

OH MY GOD, DID YOU REALLY JUST COMPARE THIS CHEAT AND LIAR TO THE GREAT ROSA PARKS???? My mind is just whirling from such a far fetch grasp of you trying to justify a scam artist and theif!! Oh Please any Descendants of Ms Parks come and give Dr W a earful about this SHAMELESS comparrision to a True Hero!! Kelley Williams-Bolar was NOTHING LIKE ROSA PARKS!!! Ms WB was perfectly allowed to send her kids to that school if she a)lived in the district or b)paid the out of area tuition (not unlike when students have a in-state and out-of-state tuition when attending college). So at no time was she ever told "hey black lady you can't bring your kids into our school". In fact her kids went there for 2yrs while the school tried to bend over backwards to make arrangements with her!! To me they should of came down on her a long time ago. And the biggest fact in all of this that no one is reporting on is this...every one says oh well she lied to get her kids into a better school, ok I could except that but Kelley Williams-Bolar has not and at this time is still standing by her story that her kids did live at her fathers most of the time?? And that is why the school had to hire a PI and the prosecuter charged her like they did. Because she still will not just say "hey I lied to get my kids into this school with out paying the tuition and I am sorry(the sorry is optional)". In her trial her and her lawyer submitted her W2 and the address listed with her employer that she live at her fathers. So she is still lying about it. And the part NO ONE SEEMS TO GET IS THIS, if her and her lawyer appeal their case and do convince a jury that her kids did live at her dads house than she will be sealing an even worse fate....can anyone guess what I mean.....YES, that's right, if she establishes that her kids lived at her fathers home than the County has solid facts from her and her lawyer that she defrauded the County when she applied for her Subsidized housing based on the fact that she had 2 children living with her FULL-TIME!! So by all means continue to dig your hole deeper Kelley Williams-Bolar, and keep pushing her down that hole Dr W!! And my final point is how do the peepz(and no this is not supported by all blacks, most of blacks, but only by a few blacks) who are defending her justify blaming every one but her? Now what happened to all Dr W and so many posters big push of "it takes a village to raise a child" moto?? Yet when this lady was faced with a bad school and niehborhood did she think about her "village" or her "community"...NOPE!! She like so many peepz like herself looked out for herself and basicly said to "HE**" with the rest of YOU!! Instead of getting a group of the parents of other students together and working with the school(by that I mean, volunteering for where ever they can help and not just telling the school reps that they are doing a bad job)? And the same idea goes for the neighborhood that she felt was not ideal, she could of started with the same parents from school and including other adults in the neighborhood to work with police(and that means yes telling on the criminals) to make it safer for EVERYONE?? So I guess she was not really willing to do "anything" to help her girls, she was just willing to do what was easier. And yet so many peepz on here are sticking up for her yet if you lived in her neighborhood she was and would not stick up for YOU!! She was just fine with leaving your behinds in the dust so she could GET HERS!! And then the final view, if she and the peepz are not willing to pitch in and clean up the schools and neighborhoods they live in...who will??? See my point?? By just getting hers and others doing/feeling the same how are things going to get better?? So your kids not learn "well if things are not the way we like or want then we should just leave and let others deal with it. But sooner or later there is no where left to go. So maybe Dr W and others should be using this as lesson of what not to do....abandon your community(no matter the color)!! If peepz were willing to work as hard at cleaning up their schools, community's then this kind of hussle than they would of created a school and community that outside peepz would want to send their kids to and live in. Yet she and peepz like her are not willing to do the LONG TERM hard work needed to bring up their community!! HOW TRUELY SAD!! And Dr W, DON'T YOU EVER TRY AND BELITTLE ROSA PARKS COURAGE AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS LIKE THAT AGAIN!!! YOU NEED TO CHECK YOUR EGO BECAUSE YOU WENT WAY OVER THE LINE WITH THAT MESS!!!

And where did you go to school? Did you ever hear about paragraphs, proper grammar, etc.? Perhaps you might have done well to have gone to "one of the better schools" that the gifted few are allowed to attend because they live in the right neighborhoods.
In California switching schools is rampant. Not only do we have a large number of Mexicans coming across the borders, but we have the athletes who shop around the good sports teams. Most give fictitious addresses and beat the system everyday.

@ Janet, you are correct that my writing skills are not any where near what it should be. After 42 years I am glad you have brought me around to that fact so that I now know! Now other than trying to insult me ( which has no effect if that's all you have ) and your justification that a lot of other peepz do it....do you have an intelligent response ? Funny how you can point out my obvious lack of knowledge with proper writing, yet you still don't seem nearly as intelligent ....how ironic!!!!! Point for you to learn, school is not a persons only venue for education .
