In the January issue of "the hip-hop Bible," the entrepreneur extraordinaire claims that President Obama, in the infamous words of Kanye West, "doesn't care about black people."
"I love the president, like most of us. I just want the president to do better. There's a difference between us voting for somebody and us believing in somebody. He's the person that we believed in, so I pray night and day that he understands how God ordained his presidency. I feel there was a promise made to God to look after people that was less fortunate, and [many] of those people are African American."
Combs' bold 2004 "Vote or Die" campaign was revisited in the historic 2008 election with a more partisan mantra: "Obama or Die." The mogul's support and loyalty apparently makes him an authority on what the POTUS should do for the African American community.
"It's something he might not get reelected for, but we elected him," Diddy said. "He owes us. I'd rather have a black president that was man enough to say that he was doing something for black people than have a one-term president who played the politics game [to get re-elected]"
I cannot be the only one who finds Diddy's ire a tad hypocritical. While Obama is known to address the importance of family and takes African American men to task for their sometimes irresponsible behavior, Combs has five children, and has yet to marry, or otherwise show any visible respect for any of the three mothers. Yes, three mothers.
While our president has stressed education, and the importance of recognizing the "winner of the science fair, not just the Super Bowl," Combs' pool of talent gets younger and younger, and the "money, cash, ho*s" mentality seems to be drilled into them at Bad Boy boot camp.
While I agree that the president needs to grow a backbone and address the inequalities that the African American community faces with the same fire and conviction as he addresses the plight of the Hispanic/Latino community, in general he has passed more legislation to elevate the plight of all Americans than any executive in history.
It is true that Combs' philanthropic efforts are to be admired; however, he should put his mouth where his money is. Hip-hop has long been emulated by our youth, and the misogynist lyrics and hedonistic lifestyle poisoning their brains is just as much of a crime, if not more so, than another president without a "black agenda."
Mr. Combs, you owe us.

YES HE DOES! We voted for him and we are Americans too! He has worked tirelessly on behalf of gays and women, and he did his speech in the black community and laid ALL the problems of the black community on the black man's shoulder, but there needs to be more action. But I do recognize why many in the black community feel that way because we give away our votes and DON'T expect or place demands on the politicians that WE help elect into office. I love my president. It is just sometime I would love to hear him open his mouth and speak to the issues of our community just like he spoke and speaks to the issues of the gay community!

If you pay taxes, the President works for you!
Through taxes to build this nation, military enlistments to defend this country, abide by the laws... by doing these things and others, we have a social contract with the government of America! We serve this country and in turn, this country, via the Constitution are to serve it's people! Blacks, brought here and held captive as slaves for 300 years, Jim Crow for 150 years,are owed more than any American due to 400 years ofdiscrimmination!
We are due reparations in full!!
Despite amendments to her Constitution, and so called "civil rights bills", Blacks has been given a human-rights check drawn on a Constitutional account with insufficient funds! We still fight for equal rights!
As much as I dislike P Diddy's style, he's not in a position to make policies that affects ALL the lives of Black Americans!
He's 100% correct when he say, "Obama owes us"!

We has black people deserve the same opportunities has everyone else. Unemployment rates is higher in our community. Our children is lagging behind because they aren't given a proper education. President Obama needs to focus more on education and jobs. He do owe us the respect to continue to fight the cause that got him elected for president.

Does Obama owe African-Americans anything ? No but America does owe African-Americans for all the plight that the injustice of racism for some 400 plus years has inflicted not to mention all the free labor, the denial of access to basic human rights as set forth by the country's forefathers etc etc etc !
Can't put a price on that and it can't ever be paid or rectified !

Barak Obama is not a slave minded ghetto Black American. If the US Black population represents only 12% of the total US population, you are a minority. Additionally, if you break it down further out of that 12% you have wealthy black Americans, upper middle class Black Americans, middle class Black Americans and Working class Black Americans.
The whiney Ghetto minded "let's keep the slave thing alive" white people are against us conspiracy theory Black Americans is a very small % of the overall Black American population.
Of the very small Ghetto minded "we wuz slaves" , none were ever slaves. The other 88% or so of the US population were never slave owners, probrably never knew andy slave owners and probrably disagreed with slavery when it happened years ago.
