That was the mood coming from the Senate, after the bill was defeated by a vote of 51–47. The mood on the GOP side of the aisle was practically giddy:
"These are the first steps in a long road that will culminate in 2012, whereby we will expose the flaws and the weaknesses in this legislation," Texas Sen. John Cornyn, the party's campaign chief, told the AP.
"We think this is just the beginning," added Republican leader Mitch McConnell. "This issue is still ahead of us."
But Republicans may be in for a rude awakening.
Despite complaints about health care from the American public, there are changes that are now benefiting millions of Americans, especially in this time of fiscal crisis.
One of the most prominent changes is the amendment that allows children to stay on their parents' health care plan until the age of 26. That change is especially important as many young people graduate college or technical school and return home unable to find work.
Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.), called the Republican repeal effort "one more hollow, symbolic, pander-to-the-masses amendment," the AP reported.
"I want to hear their ideas for replacement," she said.
And that's why this is a prime example of what is wrong with American politics right now.
Instead of Republicans working to change portions of the health care bill they disagree with, they are plotting for the 2012 presidential election, and it's not just Republicans that play this ugly game; Democrats do it as well.
In reality, Republicans should be more concerned with the 23-year-old college graduate who can't find a job and who has student loans on deferral. The least we can do is make sure that he can go to the doctor if he becomes ill.
Meanwhile, Republicans are still talking about deficit reduction. They are right that we need to reduce our tremendous debt; however, it should not be at the expense of the health of Americans.
There are projections that the health care law will actually help reduce our budget gap.
And why aren't we looking at other budget-widening items such as our defense spending?
We are still armed for World War III when many of our recent and unnecessary conflicts have involved on-the-ground battles with smaller, more elusive combatants who use guerrilla warfare techniques.
Nor is health care reform a government plot to delve deeper into our lives. If most people don't realize it, the government is already deeply involved in health care. Millions of poor Americans receive Medicaid, while every citizen will receive Medicare if they live long enough -- both of these programs are vital to the health of the elderly and poor.
I'm sure a sick person in Florida who has lost her job and home is not thinking about the 2012 elections at this moment.

The insurance companys want this health care bill it gives them more customers millions of them! If you have health insurance now look at your bill it has gone way up since obamacare was passed. If you think it is going to be cheaper and better with the government running it, you need a brain transplant. It will be repealed! What has obama done for the dollar,for the poor,forthe blacks,for the middle class for the rich? Nothing for one and all. He is stalling this recession, he needs to go!

If you say that your premium went up since this hcr what happen to it going up before the hcr. If you say that it didn't then you are being untruthful. I can honestly say that since I have been in the work force for over twenty years, health care premiums has risen and service was cut.
I can remember when one insurance policy cover everything from medical to life insurance. I also can remember when we were convince that it was wrong for people to buy whole insuranc e that cover medical, dental,and vision.
People were told that it was not fair to dental and vision included with medical because you may not need it. We bought that lie. Along came separte policy for medical, dental, vision and life and then short term and long term disability.
What dopes we were.
You can count on your finger who do not dental at least once in their lives and the older we get the worst our eyes become, but we thought we would never need vision. Of course we all thought there would never be a time in our lives that we would never ever need short and long term disability, because we would never get sick or hurt and have to be off from work.
And of course we know we would ever get old and need a nursing home because our precious family would love to keep us at home and take care of us. Forgot about homehealth because our family would take care of all our needs.
So we were unhappy when we see people get medical treatment but did so without any medical insurance and for the record, this is not the poor. But those good old working friends, family, neighbors, coworkers who make the same as you or more and refused to purchase insurance because they want the government to pay it. Yet they holler for less government but then who will pick up the slack of unpaid medical treatment. Those who pay insurance premiums and the government.
Be careful who you want out of your lives and who you think you may hate. It is the one who picks up the tab in the long run.

As Israeli companies can bid on defense contracts just as if they were American companies, they frequently also wind up getting the work that would go to Americans. Because of the high level of American direct aid plus unique tax breaks for American citizens who give money to Israel, Israelis have free medical care and university education, benefits that few Americans enjoy.........
