You may have noticed that this has been a very cold winter and it's fairly certain that we will have climate disruptions going forward. And you may have also noticed that there is a little problem with the economy and that a lot of people are in financial trouble. So this makes perfect sense to those who believe that middle class and poor Americans need their characters built with some more sacrifice. (The wealthy, remember, must be reassured that they will not have to spend even one more penny in taxes or they will feel "uncertain" which is completely unacceptable.)
President Obama's proposed 2012 budget will cut several billion dollars from the government's energy assistance fund for poor people, officials briefed on the subject told National Journal.
It's the biggest domestic spending cut disclosed so far, and one that will likely generate the most heat from the president's traditional political allies. That would satisfy the White House, which has a vested interest in convincing Americans that it is serious about budget discipline.
The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP, would see funding drop by about $3 billion from an authorized 2009 total of $5.1 billion. The proposed cut will not touch the program's emergency reserve fund, about $590 million, which can be used during particularly harsh cold snaps or extended heat spells, three officials told National Journal.

WHAT DO YOU EXSPECT! jUST BECAUSE WE HAVE A BLACK PRESIDENT THAT DOESENT MEAN THAT HE IS GOING TO DO ANY THING FOR THE POOR, LET ALONE AFRICAN AMERICANS. THE SAD PART IS THAT IF ANYONE ELSE, INDIAN,ASIAN,OR LATIN AMERICAN THEY WOULD IMMEDIATELY SET OUT TO SPECIALLY HELP THIER OWN PEOPLE.WE HAVE A BLACK PRESIDENT WHO WILL COMMENT ON WHATS GOIN ON IN EGYPT BUT WILL NOT COMMENT ON POLICE SHOOTING UNARMED AND HANDCUFFED MEN SUCH AS OSCAR GRANT IN OAKLAND,CA. AND THE ONLY JOBS HE IS CREATING ARE JOB'S THAT WILL HIRE EVERY ONE BUT AFRICAN AMERICAN'S EDUCATED! OR NOT! WE ARE THE ONLY RACE IN AMERICA THAT IS TOLD TO GO TO SCHOOL,WHILE LESSER QAULIFIED PEOPLE RECIEVE ON THE JOB TRAINNING WITH PAY AND BENIFITS WITH NO DEGREE OR CERTICATE AT ALL. THAT'S WHAT WE CALL:"THE GOOD OL BOY CONNECTION!" IT'S TO BAD WITH OBAMA IN CHARGE WE CAN'T GET THE:"CAN YOU HOOK! A BROTHA UP! PROGRAM".

President Obama was elected as President for all American people...WHY should we expected any entitlements given to African Americans?..(although the President has pledge millions to the CBC to help the plight of the black community and may good on his promise) ..
The majority of african americans voted for President Obama .. and a very large majority voting block of other races in America voted for Senator Obama elect President. Even though these same ignorant race-based whites complained- the only reason African Americans voted for Senator Obama elect President because he's black. Wait, weren't these the same PPl saying he wasn't black? And stated he would not have become president if it wasn't for his white mother's side of the family? But Mr. Obama MARRIED a dark skinned african american woman-did he not?..when he could have probably married any race of woman non-black because of his promising FUTURE when in college forward..HE chose a african american woman..
Furthermore, when white voters- vote for a white political candidate for president are they doing so because the candidate is white? Sure they are.. but as a race of PPL when we vote for someone black..its a problem? Really? But if we(african americans) vote for someone white, whites have no problem with it.. and why is that?
Second, what I see is this FACT for african americans.. we have experienced for the first time in our LIFE yet living ..the vision and dream come true from those..who marched(non violent) against discrimination and injustice, jailed, bitten by dogs and murdered-which is noting short of domestic terrorism committed AGAINST african american doing the civil rights era -before hand and beyond.. who knew ONE day that we yet again would changed this nation's injustice toward african americans..as we have shaped this nation's history for CHANGE and freedom for all people not just african americans.
President Obama represents the DREAM of those african americans who dared to dream and stood in the wake of domestic terrorism by those wearin white hoods..bled and died for the moment we are experiencing as result.. electing this nation's first african american president.
It's not the president position to make such a decision with regard to injustices committed against african american..its your local authority leaders you keep re-electing in to office, community leaders, chief of police, your congress-person.

That's cold...but all of this spending has to cause some procgrams to suffer. The rich will see their pockets get smaller as well. The sad thing is poor folks feel it more when the purse string tightens up!
Off topic-I'm glad Egyptians are finally heading towards democracy ;)

Times is tough. Got to cut somewhere.
Anything that ends in aid is always on the choppin' block.
So many people today have been conditioned that aid means (entitled).
Those that jump on the "oh woe is me" bandwagon are on the take too.
When fossil fuels are wastefully pumpin out of control to a house with one person living in it a line has to be drawn somewhere.
Aid was meant for those down on their luck, not for those lying on their backs all day watchin monique waiting to pop out the next federally assisted kid
Those that are truly on the take are the reason those that really "need" and "deserve" it will suffer. Sad to say but true.

This is a no win ...no win situation for the President no matter how we look at it. Spending has 2 B cut somewhere and I think we need 2 cut military spending; and get out of all these wars. On the flip side if we end all wars, and end military support 2 all other countries we are in, and all of our military came home; then that will be 100s of thousand more people added 2 the unemployment rate. Again....a no win situation.

Don't treat this as the government taking something away from people. To stop giving is not to take away.
Collecting taxes is the only time the government takes away from people. Cutting down on spending when money is tight is what we all have to do.
Everybody knows it's going to get cold in the winter. Heating bills don't just pop up unexpectedly. Government handouts can't be your "plan A".
