Authorities say a young South Philadelphia teen was so angry his mom took away his PlayStation that he killed her with a claw hammer.
The motive was revealed as Kendall Anderson's confession to the brutal crime, committed on the day after Thanksgiving, was read in court, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported on Tuesday.
The 16-year-old allegedly told police he decided to kill his mother, Rashida Anderson, after a 90-minute argument that culminated in her taking the video-game console away.
Anderson considered his actions before killing his 37-year-old single mother, said the judge who read the teen's statement in Philadelphia Municipal Court. The teen paced for three hours mulling over what he would do before deciding to kill her, said his confession, which he gave to a police detective.
Anderson struck her 20 times with a claw hammer while she slept.

In an effort to get rid of her body, he tried to "cremate her" in the oven, according to the confession. When that failed, he smashed her head with a chair, then dragged the body out into the alley behind their house and hid it.
The remains were not found until nearly two days later, after family became suspicious and notified police. Anderson was charged with murder in December, as well as possession of an instrument of a crime and abuse of a corpse.
The teen was not known to be violent, but had been charged with stealing a laptop from his high school.
"If I could, I would not do it again," he said in his confession. "I really miss my mom. ... She was the only person who cared for me."

It's a shame that this country has created laws that give children all of the control and power over their parents. As a result, children are attacking their parents for the smallest things (i.e. taking away a child's privelages). Growing up in the 70's a child would never have attacked their parents because, parents could use corporal punishment to control the situation. Now, a parent can't even say certain things to their children or they will get in trouble with the law. Unfortunately, until the laws give parents control back in their households, you will see more of these incidents.

How has this country created laws that gives children controll and power over their parents? This case has nothing to do with legislation, only pure evil from the pits of hell. A normal person does not kill their mother because of a video game.

Oh so back in the 70s parents were never killed by children?
I say back in the 70s you never would have even heard of this case because there was no internet.
Which do you think is more likely?

Only if we let them.. But there is a law that counteracts this one. It's called parent abuse.. I used it in court and won!

I have no problem judging him, he is an animal, stopped being human as soon as he ambushed his Mom in her sleep. He should die and be forgotten.

And this was all because he was being punished by having his game system taken away. I guess he ought to really be upset now given how he won't be playing that video game for a long time now. He should be prosecuted as an adult and given a long prison sentence, if not life without parole because him killing his mother like that was just down right senseless.

It costs anywhere from $25,000 to $30,000 a year to keep a person in prison. This person doesn't deserve our taxpayer dollars. He thought about it for 3 hours. Enough time to be aware of the consequences of his actions. He's a menace to society, he shouldn't be a burden to society. He can't be "reformed" or "cured". Swift and Just Punishment: Today is a good day to die.

There were probably red flags and nobody seen this comin not even the Mother? THIS IS DISTURBING, over a damn Play Station Game? By lookin at this pic above he look like somethin is wrong mentally? There has to be more to this story? I wonder if this young boy has a Father who is still around? WOW, this just sadden my day by hearin this news. I pray for the young boy, that God forgives him and pray for the family. This should have never happened. The boy should have obeyed and had respected his Mom! I feel sorry for this young boy when he gets in a jail cell, what the inmates might do to him? Kids are way out of control now a days. ISH like this starts at home! Parents should take more in CHARGE of their kids, monitor their kids more, BE MORE INVOLVED, be more DICIPLINE, teach them good morals and family values, so the kids won't take in charge of them!
