The Homewood day care facility was shut down by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare after the owner, Reanell Booker, was arrested for selling drugs on Friday.
In addition to sex toys and pornography littering the children's play area, $6,000 worth of crack cocaine, and $4,000 cash was discovered inside the day care, according to investigators who conducted the raid.
"I just think it's crazy. I don't know where I'm going to send my kids now. It was convenient for me," said the mother of two children who attending the day care. She discovered the day care was shut down when she came to drop off her children.
Leigh Stubblefield, who owns a nearby day care, passed out flyers to the parents of the 10-15 children who attended R&B Childcare.
"It tarnishes our name. I don't want people to think that every day care is like this because it's not. There are some of us who truly care about the children," said Stubblefield.
Booker is licensed by the state to run the day care, and she has no prior arrest record. Now she faces drug charges, and potentially child endangerment charges.
Unfortunately, this isn't the first time that cocaine has been found in a day care.
In 2009, 301 grams of cocaine and two guns were discovered in a North Carolina day care. At the time, police said a two year old toddler, and a thirteen month old baby, were present. Agostina Mabel Pomiro, mother of the baby, was charged with cocaine possession and trafficking, intent to sell, maintaining a dwelling for the sale or delivery of controlled substances, misdemeanor child abuse and possessing a controlled substance on a day care property.
In the 1980s and early 90s, day care sexual abuse hysteria was a widespread phenomenon originating in a bizarre case of sadistic sexual abuse in Kern County, California. There are some who still remember those times and continue to view day cares with suspicion.
As evidenced by this case, they have every right to remain suspicious. Judges have traditionally sided with day care providers in abuse cases, contending that young children are easily persuaded to claim things happened that never did, or that their memories had been manipulated.
Hopefully, the children from R&B Childcare Services receive a full psychological evaluation and are questioned thoroughly about the activities in the day care. The presence of sex toys and pornography in a children's play area should immediately lead to an investigation of child molestation.
Whether Ms. Booker was in fact the owner of the drugs and sex paraphernalia is not my concern. Those children were placed in her care, and she should be punished to the fullest extent of the law for not protecting them from adult activity better suited for a strip club or a back alley.
Parents need to check the background of all people who come in contact with their children, directly or indirectly in a day care setting. All citizens have access to their state's Sex Offender Registry, and we should utilize it. When possible, use your lunch breaks to pay your children, and their teachers, a surprise visit.
More importantly, parents, trust your instincts. Our children are our most precious treasures, and nothing is too much when it comes to keeping them safe.

This happened last week. I seen it on the news and was OUTRAGED! I live in Pittsburgh and this is a DAMN SHAME! I hope that the kids there were not hurt or sexually abused in any way! I mentioned this story yesterday on the blogs before it came out on the BV Spin yesterday. I hope that this woman gets a LONG TIME JAIL SENTENCE! I hope that they checked all of the children out by Doctor for real! The woman had Sex toys & pornography by the play area? THIS WOMAN IS SICK! This woman was endagering the welfare of the children with drugs, weapons,ect.. What if somethin would have went down like shooting and the kids were in the crossfire of the Day Care? That woman was exposing the children to sex toys & pornography that was out in the opening? JUST PLAIN WRONG! SMH!
Parents have to do their homework about searchin for Day Cares for their children. Drop in un announced and see what is really going on a daily basis. Go around ask Parents about the Day Care that knows about the Center & overall is it a good reccomendation? Make sure there are monitors in every room of the Day Care Center, find out how long the Center has been in operation?, do back ground checks, the whole nine! I'm serious! You will feel at ease & comfortable leaving your child or children there, will have trust in the people who run & work for the Day Care.

What about Meth labs, white people are always in the news for that. There was a story right in Pittsburgh last week. I live in Pittsburgh. A white male running a Meth Lab in his whole apartment and caused a man that lived above him to get sick, he was hallucinating, and had to go to seek mental help? You hear in the news a lot white people stealin from pharmacies, for oxicotyin, pain killers, ect.. does that make them good people & RIGHT? You hear in the news all the time, those people overdosin or addicted to Herion all the time. White males committing murder by shootin up schools, colleges, ect.. always in the news. The list goes on about crimes not just whites but ALL RACES. Another DISTURBING STORY in Pittsburgh a hispanic man cut up a black man, dismembered his body into parts, threw his body parts into bags, threw the bags over a hillside like he was TRASH, becuase he thought the black guy was having sex with his sister! Like I said, ALL RACES commit bad crimes not just the Black People!
So it's TYPICAL for someone who is not black who doesn't like a the black race don't have FACTS NOR STATISTICS to back their ISH UP, to make ignorant comments about Black People and blame the Black Race for EVERY CRIME IN AMERICA! That comment was ignorant! Beleive me, Black people don't think the white people are SUPERIOR and we don't care what they think about US! We don't have to prove a damn thing to them or anybody & don't need THEIR APPROVAL! Racsim is sad, disrespectful, hateful, ignorant, ALIVE, and people need to wake up beucase these are the last days!

This reflects bad on Black people, especially Black mothers. While many Black mothers and Black parents who use daycares are good employees, know their jobs like the back of their hands, sing in the choir, serve in the church--yet are very negligible when it comes to many issues about their children. Who are the Black mothers and Black parents who find themselves in such a mess? One can argue, this can happen to any Black parent. No, it can not. There are certain Black parents and Black mothers that are very aware who takes care of their children--they put their children's welfare before career, self, and other affairs. Family first; children first. They do their homework.
