Shomari Stone (pictured) is a reporter out of Seattle that you probably haven't heard of until now. After his heroic actions this week, though, you will have respect for the man who showed courage when others would have walked the other way.
Stone was out filming a segment, when he noticed some men fighting. One of the men, a white male, was being beaten badly by a black man, and Stone became concerned.
Going into "Brother mode" (yes, you notice that Stone's speaking style changed upon noticing that he might have to get a little tough), the reporter ran over to stop the fight. Not only did he help to stop the black man from hurting the white guy, he even jumped in to tackle the guy that was on top of the "victim."
I was impressed as I watched the video (you can watch below), hearing the news anchor suddenly prepare to become an aggressor in a very dangerous and unpredictable situation.
Either man could have had a weapon, which is one of the reasons that we don't suggest you try this at home. What was most impressive was the fact that the white man that Stone saved was actually a white supremacist.
The man had Swastika tattoos up and down his arms, and offered one of those tattooed arms to shake Stone's hand. That's when Shomari was as smooth as Denzel in a good movie, telling the man:
"Remember to judge the man by his character and not the color of his skin."
One has to respect Shomari for taking the high road and remaining decent when he would have been justified in behaving otherwise. He also could have played it safe, sitting back and watching the action without taking part in it. Perhaps he reflects a breed of journalist who realizes that rather than simply recording the news, we can all play a role in creating it.
As a side note, MediaTakeout took issue with the fact that it appears that the White Supremacist may have been trying to rob the black man that was beating him. If that's true, then Mr. Stone may have misjudged the events in the case. But given that he was willing to risk his own safety to de-escalate a violent situation, I still applaud what he was trying to do. He had no way of knowing what was going on and was simply trying to stop a fight. Sitting idly by and allowing the black man to beat on the white one would have hardly been a productive reaction from Stone.
Good job, Shomari, you make us all proud.

Hate to say it but since it was mutual combat, Shomari should have left it alone. Since the white boy was so "supremist" he could maybe have even rose to the occasion. LOL!! Taking the high road may be personally graftifying, but as a race it has gotten us absolutely nowhere.

That white boy was a coward ! The video clearly showed that and if he were truly a white supremacist, shouldn't he have gotten mad for another black man stepping in to save him ! I mean a true white supremacist would have never allowed that to happen !
He even stood behind the reporter for safety ! He's a straight coward ! Now he'll probably be expelled from the trailer park annual KKK shindig !

The reporter helped the white supremist, because for the most part black people do not hate people because of the color of their skin and if they do it's because some wrong have been done to that person, e.g. racial profiling, not hired, followed in stores, shot-up while out with their friends, mistreated by white female's family, blamed for raping a white girl, blamed for robbing and killing a white girl's kids. The list can go on and on. I'm just saying!

I agree westfall but it is a psychological issue here...with us black people this story is deep, we really want whites so badly, most of us, to love us and see us as equal that some of us would lay down our lives for the dirtiest lowest white trash out there, it is just part of the plantation, slave like mentality in which we believe that white life is more valuable, and we could forgive whites for 400 years of slavery, beating, suppression, castration, rape, insults, killings, job discrimination, poverty, and racism that goes on it this day in the court system, boardroom, streets and everywhere else but us black men and black women can't forgive "a little bit of attitude from each other" and we are so quick to not want anything to do with each other over the mildest thing,,,,,please!!!so embarassing!!how we hate ourselves and embrace the enemy!!

Dr. Watkins wrote: "One has to respect Shomari for taking the high road and remaining decent when he would have been justified in behaving otherwise."
When I read this passage, I thought, "Really? On what grounds?" Well, according to Dr. Watkins's implication, the reporter would have been justified, because the man he saved is a White supremist. However, the reporter obviously didn't know the man's affiliation until after the fight. Dr. Watkins acknowledges this later in his article.
Dr. Watkins praises the reporter, who simply defended a fellow human being without regard for race. Yet, had the reporter walked away, due to race, Dr. Watkins would have excused such an action. You can't have it both ways.

Saving a white supremacist is like saving the devil. They do go together. How can a human being look at another human being and "hate" them without knowing them but hating them because of the way they look.
I know of two white supremacist and both of them die after a run in with me. Before you go to conclusion not so fast. One died after getting into a motorcycle accident and the other committed suicide all in the same year or there about. I have heard of three others who committed suicide. What does nthat tell you?
HATE DOES NOT PAY BUT NO ONE HAS TOLD THESE DEVILS YET.
