African-American and white women have spend insane amounts of money to look like each other, when, according to an interesting survey by Allure Magazine, 64 percent of people think that mixed race women represent the epitome of beauty.
America has gone biracial.
What is most illuminating about this survey is that the overwhelming shift in perceptions of beauty in the last 20 years has shifted away from what are typically white characteristics -- pale skin, slender physiques, smaller breasts and hips -- to the curvy, sun-kissed beauty of multi-ethnic women.
According to the survey, 70 percent of those who wish to change their skin color wanted it to be darker, and 74 percent believe that a curvier body type is more appealing now than it has been over the past 10 years.
America's fascination with skin color is nothing new. There was a time when pale skin was required to be considered a lady because true ladies didn't expose their porcelain skin to the sun. Conversely, the dark skin of slave women were considered evidence of their inferiority and their forced time in the fields.
Now, white women spend countless hours in tanning booths across the U.S., attempting to simulate melanin. Even with plastic surgeries done to mimic the breasts and buttocks of ethnic women, according to the survey, white women are still more likely to want to change their bodies and feel less attractive than their significant others.
While there are some who may feel that the shift is purely aesthetic, I beg to differ.
In my opinion, what this shift represents is a manifestation of the oversexed perception of black women in the media, blended with the traditional definition of white women as pure and innocent.
In other words, the white represents the "lady," and the multi-ethnic represents the "freak."
Every man's dream woman, right?
Gloria Steinem makes the provocative argument that whatever a 'superior' group has will be used to justify its superiority, and whatever an 'inferior' group has will be used to justify its plight.
Though the survey suggests that both Hispanic and African-American women have more confidence than white women, one only has to look at the images we are bombarded with on a daily basis to see that all women are prone to being insecure.
African-American women have begun a disheartening quest to become caricatures of themselves, as they attempt to "outblack" white women by getting surgeries to enlarge their already enviable figures.
Butt injections and breast implants are no longer the exceptions, they are the norm, as women continue to fight against nature to become every man's ideal of the perfect woman.
It is important that women, regardless of color, learn to love ourselves and the skin we're in. We don't need a survey to tell us we're beautiful. We don't need blond hair or big butts to be beautiful. We don't need big breasts or brown skin to be sexy. Confidence in ourselves is one standard of beauty that will never go out of style and we all have the ability to possess it.
Though self-love is universal, I would be at a loss if I did not take a moment to empower my sisters.
As the media onslaught against African-American women continues, from our median income being zero, to our children being born out of wedlock, to our wombs being labeled dangerous, the Allure article tap dances around the central finding of this survey:
African-American women have changed the face of beauty in American culture, and while it is obvious that there are women who want to be us, we must again revel in the satisfaction of simply being ourselves.

Allure magazine, are you kidding? Of course this sample group says mulattoes are their standard of beauty, as the sample group is mostly colored. These are colored people who rightly think that lighter skinned colored people are more attractive than darker skinned colored people. This sample group does not include white people, the vast majority of whom find all colored people revolting.

That's the thing. Everybody is assuming biracial=Afro-Euro mixed. Most of the ppl in this survey were WHITE(the 70% wanting their skin to be darker statistic makes this obvious). I think this article is about non-white/black Hispanic and white mixed or Eurasians bc it really doesn't seem as if white ppl like anything the least bit African.
Anyways this article is 100% sexist and racist towards both Black & white women. Whoever wrote this crap doesn't know what they are talking about.

Allure is a magazine that mainly white women peruse through. And it's white women who did this study as they are the ones who fawn over bi-racials because any drop of whiteness in their blood makes them feel comfortable around them, also justifying this tired stat that they are more beautiful.
White people don't care to claim bi-racials unless it benefits them somehow. Take Obama, for example: when he was running for president he was considered black, when he became president he became biracial, now that he's in office and not doing what they want him to do, he's blackety-black-black once again.
Making grandiose proclamations like who's 'the most beautiful' further damages the self-esteem of those who are outside of that spectrum.

The vast majority of white people find black people revolting? That's one of the most disgusting things I've ever heard and if it were a white person who said that, I'd be ashamed on behalf of my race. And it's NOT TRUE.

I notice BV keeps up this cheap deceit of black women being "curvier" and therefore sexier than white women. But this is all based upon a confusion of obesity, which black women definitely have much higher rates of, with sexy curves, which they don't.
Here is an perfect example of what I mean. Here are some typical obese black women. One could lie and say they have "curves", but really they are just morbidly obese and chunky, not to mention loud and obnoxious:

I completely concur with your comments! It's just the usual game that BW continue to perpetrate, but nevertheless still fail at! Curvy still only means FAT! And, this pathetic mind set is a direct reflection of BW's ongoing denial, and low self esteems.
According to the "Centers for Disease Control", (CDC)
"80.3%", that's 4 out of 5 African American women are either
overweight, or obese for "all" black women in the US today! And, also
BW are the most overweight for their gender for all races as well, and
continue to be the fastest growing segment in the country for being
overweight!
BW also have the "highest prevalence" of obesity at "49.6%" than all
other races of women in the US. That drum has been beaten on for years
now, but the majority of BW still continue to be in total denial about
their weight....which by the way are serious weight-related health
problems! Health issues that contributes to a myriad of health
related issues. They included the following:
type 2 diabetes
coronary heart disease
high LDL ("bad") cholesterol
stroke
hypertension
nonalcoholic fatty liver disease
gallbladder disease
osteoarthritis (degeneration of cartilage and bone of joints)
sleep apnea and other breathing problems
some forms of cancer (breast, colorectal, endometrial, and kidney)
complications of pregnancy
menstrual irregularities
increased risk varies by cause of death, and this increased risk is
due to cardiovascular disease.
Please, don't get all caught up in that "ongoing" nonsense about being
"curvy", because that's nothing more than another substitute for
the usual "FAT". And, it's not in the least appealing, attractive,
nor certainly isn't healthy!

Greg, are you getting permission to reprint the information from the web? I have been reading your comments lately, why are you so bitter?

This article is a perfect example of a niche website, BV, pandering to it's core niche audience, black people. Tell them what they want to hear whether it's true or not. Just as long as what they read re-enforces their existing prejudices and conceits about what they would like to believe about themselves.
I see the very same thing over and over in Boyce Watkins articles with a different twist. Over and over he'll write race baiting, race hustling articles that simply re-enforce the prejudices and fantasies of his niche black audience.
The black readers of BV are being played like a fiddle and they are too stupid to know it.
