On Monday evening, the White House presented their new webpage dedicated to President Barack Obama's efforts in the African-American community.
The page promotes how President Obama's agenda benefits our community:
"Since his first day in office, President Obama has been working to secure the future prosperity of the African-American Community through efforts such as increasing access to health care, creating jobs, revitalizing schools, and the development of targeted job creating investments in underserved communities. While much more needs to be done, we are making progress. This site is a tool for you to learn about how the President's Agenda is helping to win the future among African-American Communities." In addition to the page's mission statement, there are weekly blog posts, a number of fact sheets and an area that showcases the Administration's latest news.
If Rev. Al Sharpton and Dr. Cornel West's recent battle over Obama's effectiveness in our community is any indication, the heat is sure to increase as we move closer to the 2012 election.
The site is a good move for President Obama in being transparent and action-oriented, but in order for him to really stem the tide against the school of thought that says he hasn't provided African Americans with the relief and resources needed to project our community forward, he will need to put an even greater emphasis on issues that are crippling us, such as unemployment and incarceration.
I actually think the President has made sizable strides in areas like home foreclosure and health care. Unfortunately, though, Obama's wins have been whittled away by Conservatives and their tireless spin-o-meter.
Either way, the President is moving in the right direction with this site. Let's see how else Obama continues to meet and lift our population.

Your poll question is a no brainer to me. Of course President Obama has the black community's concerns close to his heart. For one we don't know what goes on behind closed doors, and #2 he can't keep talking about the black community every time he gets in front of a mic. I have a feeling he's doing things nice, and slow. And that a lot of people will be surprised when his entire black agenda comes out(probably after he wins the 2012 election).

I agree. There is no way we'll ever know how much pressure he is under behind those closed doors. I get the feeling he didn't even know how difficult it was going to be. I don't understand why he cares enough for this country to run again. I would tell all Americans to go to hell, take my family, and move to Kenya - after all, according to the scrotal party, he's not an American citizen anyway.

It is unfortunate you think the way you do. President Obama is trying his best to advocate for all of America. It is the poor in this Country that need the most, (that includes poor whites, blacks, and browns). It would help if individuals like yourself was able to understand that the social and economic divide leaves a hardship on poor people. Do you have anyone in your family on Social Security, disability or MediCad?

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr.Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.

Just pray that he would do what the Lord will have him to do. Pray that he would be lead by the Holy Spirit of God on what to do and how to do it, who cares as to who it is for. As long as God gets the glory. Pray and don't hate, just celebrate what the Lord has ordained. Help the African American rejoice in the goodness of the Lord, after all it was us who went through the heartache and pain, sunshine and no reign. This is the Lords' doing and it is marvelous in his sight.

Thank you Vanessa. Those who are sick with hate treats President Obama like he is a criminal. Every day the haters questions his every move. No matter what they try to do to him God Almighty will have the last say. So we constantly include President Obama in my prayer. God Almighty hears the prayer of His Peoples. Those who know how to pray, continue to pray for all of us. Except the Good Lord is on our side, we will al perish. let us pray for each other that we thrive in Love, Life, Truth, Peace, Knowledge, Wisdom, Understanding, Grace and Mercy.

If prayer actually worked - we would never have been slaves to the white man in the first place, or in the racist mess we have today. Stop praying and start acting.

This is excellent news. The more "black only" things Obama does, the more white people will realize he is president of and for blacks only, not of and for all the people. I wish all his staff and appointees were black as well. In fact, I wish all Democratic party candidates were black, all this would hasten the realization by all whites that the Democratic party and Obama are servants only of black people and that no white should ever vote Democratic again.

Craig - you are crazy. There is no way Obama was elected by a mere 14% percent (the number represented by African Americans). Are all Whites as dumb as you are. I think so. Obama was elected by White America, African Americans could in no way elect him or anyone else because of their percentage numbers. Look at the Census, check the statistical numbers White people and realize that African Americans are a small number of the US population. Your news media, criminal justice system, etc.' polarization of African Americans has made them a figment of your imagination so much so that you have bought into a lie. Check the facts, White people, and stop being ignorant to the facts about a country that was built on the backs of African Americans, but now have been disfranchised and our families left without fathers because your pecker is little. You guys are ignorant freaks.

Craig:
He only reaches out to blacks when he wants something, like a john who needs the services of a whore. People of color, esp. black have lost, and continue to lose under this 1st blk. president. He raised 100's of millions of dollars for his election, and you can believe those millions did not come from black people. I hope our people can see through the glamour spell this time around.
