From the Associated Press:
President Barack Obama said Wednesday he's decided not to release death photos of terrorist Osama bin Laden because their graphic nature could incite violence and create national security risks for the United States.
"There's no doubt we killed Osama bin Laden," the president said in an interview with CBS News, and there was no need to release the photographs or gloat. "There's no need to spike the football," he said.
The president said that for anyone who doesn't believe bin Laden is dead, "we don't think that a photograph in and of itself is going to make any difference."
"There are going to be some folks who deny it. The fact of the matter is you won't see bin Laden walking on this earth again," said Obama.
The president made his comments in an interview Wednesday with CBS' "60 Minutes". Presidential spokesman Jay Carney (pictured) read the president's quotes to reporters in the White House briefing room, ahead of the program's airing.

yes i think the photo should be shown because for the last 10 years we americans have had to watch and relive the devastation and loss of life of our loved ones over and over again on tv,news, books, pitcures, ect.because of the terror attack of 911 by the hands of osama, every day in our prayers to the love ones we have lost we tell them that we will find the person that took you from us and justice will be done by any means possible so why not show us that the devil is dead and give us final clousure, because his people watched the death of all our people and rather the photo's are released or not retaliaton from his followers will be taken but best case senerio his followers will call a truse....only time will tell..ladyt

Good move on the president's part. Why in the hell
would he show the graphin nature of Osama Bin
Laden being killed by the navy seals. There's
several reasons why the images wouldn't be shown
to the public.
1st reason: Top classified files. Our govt never
show any classified report to the
public because of security breach.
2nd reason: To prevent an uproar: Why would we
want to ignite a burning flame with
our enemies to show the image of a
terrorist who caused so much harm
during his existence.
Again, President Obama wouldn't have interrupted
routine shows around the network sunday night to
bring us a special interview. He gave us the fact
of bringing down the most wanted fugutive in the
world. For conspiracy theorists, give it up & deal
with the fact that Osama Bin Laden is dead. The
Obama's administration crippled Al-Qaeda agenda's
for now.
Like I said before, the public just have to wait
5 or 10yrs from now when a dramatization is done
on the capture & killing of Osama Bin Laden. Just
like we don't see images of convicted criminals
getting executed or military soldiers being killed
by the enemy, why would anyone think the images
of Osama should be release to the public.

And I hope he never decides to release it. For those that don't believe Bin Laden is dead; tough luck!! Also I think some people just want to see the pics bc they like gruesome things,i.e., horror movies, train wrecks, etc.
