Obama Honors Fallen Troops

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama will kick off a campaign-style push on comprehensive immigration reform Tuesday afternoon with a major speech in El Paso, Texas, but don't expect Congress to pass legislation anytime soon.
The president is "trying to lead a constructive and civil debate on the need to fix the broken immigration system," said a senior administration official during a Monday night conference call. The official said Obama will lay out a blueprint for action during his speech and will continue pressing the issue in the coming months as part of a broader effort to "responsibly move forward in advancing legislation in Congress."
But the political reality is that Republicans, and some Democrats vulnerable in the 2012 elections, have zero interest in taking on such a contentious issue -- a detail that Obama will likely gloss over in his speech.
"He's going to make the case that legislation is the root of reform," said the official. "He wants to [pass legislation] as soon as possible, but he's not going to lay out any timelines."
In recent weeks, the president has tried to jump-start momentum on immigration reform. He has held a string of high-profile meetings with business and faith leaders, law enforcement officials, lawmakers and Hispanic Hollywood celebrities as part of a broader effort to rally the public on the issue. His Tuesday speech will highlight two specific aspects of reform: border security -- and the progress his administration has already made on this front -- and potential economic benefits.

Im not feeling the mass migration of illegal and legal immigrants it becoming overwhelming, this has got to stop these people thining their coming for a better life but in the end the real citizens are upset at the freebies we do not qualify for, many mostly mexicans have babies and many, to get benifits. I can not wait to see what he has to say probably amensty with Obama.

I agree with soundoff enough already, take care of the Americans, these ppl are coming here making babies they can't afford and we are paying for them, they get all the welfare, food stamps & medicaid. I'm a single person worked my whole life now I lost my job and I can't get any help, I'm suppose to pay for a roof over my head, buy food, pay bills with an unemployment check what a joke! Their shopping carts are full and they go out to the parking lot and climb up into a expensive SUV or truck that they can barely see over the the dashboard, what a country AMERICA!!! too bad it's not for AMERICANS!!!!!

It's ironic that your black God Obama is working to legalize millions more Mexicans. Once Mexicans become the majority in the US, blacks can wave goodbye to all their government freebies (section 8 housing, food stamps, AFDC, etc) and favored treatment. Mexicans, unlike whites, won't be a soft touch and just roll over when you scream "racism" and give you everything you want.
Whites in this country have an attitude of just wanting to be apart from blacks and left alone by blacks. Mexicans on the other hand actively dislike blacks and will be vicious towards blacks. So it's ironic when your black God Obama tries to hasten the day when the US is majority Mexican and blacks are cut off from all the freebies they've been used to.

this president will not be getting my vote the second time around, how he gonna say in one sentence that employers should be punished for hiring illegals and then in the next sentence say illegals need to pay taxes, how the hell they gonna pay taxes unless they have illegal jobs, big a## contradiction, i dont care if they did catch osama bin laden, if he gonna ok illegals being here when i cant even afford to be legal then i cant vote for him anymore, this is a bunch of bull, legal citizens are expected to obey laws and when broken they are punished, but illegals can just break our laws and the so called head of our country says its ok, why dont we all just break the law since the president of our country doesnt have a problem with it

Well I see Tom is back! or is it Bill? Tom I don't know why you all like to blame everything on President Obama. I seem to remember your GOD Ronald Reagan started this mess by giving the first batch amnesty and claiming that it would be the thing to stop the problem. NOT!!!!!! they came more and more now it's an epidemic. As far as freebies go, Blacks don't get any freebies! Anything we get is what is owed to us by the FREE Labor our ancestors gave to yours years ago and were never paid for, now! If you want to talk about somebody getting something for free look in the mirror, you paid nothing for this country.

Nobody owes you anything. Your ancestors got a FREE ride to a civilized country along with guaranteed employment with free room and board. Just like you, they whined constantly if work was ever asked of them in return. It was white ingenuity that created the inventions and corporations of the US, blacks were and still are along for a free ride.
Your ancestors were all offered free rides to Liberia and most turned it down knowing they wouldn't get the freebies there they get in the US. The ones who did go to Liberia practiced and still do practice racism against the darker skinned native Africans there, displaying the same kind of hypocrisy American blacks are well known for.

They need to stay in Mexico. If they want to become citizens get in line with the rest of the immigrants....Asians, Africans, Arabs, Indians, etc. They come here, we don't have to be bilingual and assist them. Why the Mexicans. No, I won't learn Spanish, they need to learn English. When in Rome, do as the Romans do..
