From Salon.com:
If you haven't noticed yet, a new candidate is rapidly climbing in Republican presidential polling. Last week, Herman Cain broke into double digits in a CNN poll of national GOP voters, and now a new PPP poll from the first-in-the-nation caucus state of Iowa find him tied for second place there with Sarah Palin, just six points behind Mitt Romney.
This raises an obvious question: How the [bleep] is this happening?
Cain, after all, came to the race with essentially no name recognition and only one failed, low-profile political campaign -- a bid for the Republican Senate nomination in Georgia in 2004 that he lost by 26 points -- under his belt. And while he does boast a fairly impressive business resume -- the CEO of Godfather's Pizza, a restaurant chain with about 500 franchises in the U.S., from 1986 to 2002 -- it's not as if he enjoys widespread acclaim as a corporate titan.
And yet, he's become a genuine sensation among politically engaged Republicans these past few weeks.
What's striking about Cain's rise is that we've seen candidacies like his before in the modern era, but they've never gained this kind of polling traction. In a way, he's a hybrid of two fringe candidates who sought the 1996 Republican nomination: Morry Taylor (because of their under-the-radar business backgrounds -- Taylor was the CEO of an Illinois tire company) and Alan Keyes (because of their political backgrounds -- Keyes had two losing (by wide margins) Senate campaigns to his name.
By spending $6 million of his own money, Taylor was able to buy himself some mainstream exposure; he was invited to most debates, advertised heavily on television, and received his share of newspaper and magazine profiles. Keyes had little money, but his powerful oratory and staunchly conservative social message attracted a cult following and also led to some news coverage and debate invitations (although there were occasions when he was not accorded this respect).
But neither Taylor nor Keyes ever made noise in national or early state polling. Keyes managed to grab 7 percent in the Iowa caucuses and 2 percent in New Hampshire. Taylor finished with well under 5 percent in both states. Four years later, Keyes ran again and did slightly better, finishing with 14 percent in Iowa -- a deceptively high total since John McCain had abandoned the state, leaving just George W. Bush, Steve Forbes, Keyes and Gary Bauer to divvy up the Iowa electorate.

This man isn't going anywhere, and he knows that already! But, at least he's certainly more qualifed than a Jesse Jackson, or an Al Sharpton ever was, or will be! So, let him have his momement to bask in the limelight.

He's also more qualified than Alan Keys, though it's interesting how you can only compare Cain to other blacks.

" tied for second place there with Sarah Palin, just six points behind Mitt Romney."
White folks loves to be entertained! That's why Herman's their man. He's a backstabbing sellout who would prostitute his own mother. Just look at the political candidates America choose. Every last one, a jackass. 16 years of the monkey Bushes, 8 years of tarot card-Nancy and her henpecked actor who pretended he was some kind of "gipper"?!!!..8 years of tricky-prick..well almost 8 years. Peanut-man tried to walk tall, but racist whites ran him out of office. Nowadays, he mumbles and grumbles a few good words now and then, just to get back at the uncouthed racists. Bubba Clinton getting blowjobs in the Lincoln room!...you see! on and on; whites loves these scoundrels!
Whites are so crooked, they don't want a truthful politician or government. An honest politician would lose by a landslide in white America and risk getting assassinated. The country is so corrupt, a person that would dare speak the truth can't get votes and would catch hell just to get on the ballot. The bullet would be more honest and just, than the ballot in America (no chads or my brother's gov. backing).
This is how sick God has blessed America!
The worst is yet to come! Hallelujah!

bugs hunter, with your thinking there is no way whites can please you. If they show any interest in a Black Candidate it's because they want to be entertained, if they don't vote for or criticize a black politician, then they're racist. Yea, you got all your bases covered.
And if white America is so crooked and dishonest, then maybe the government of one of the African countries would suit you better or maybe Cuba or Venezuala would meet with your requirements.

@fathiyyah --
REALLY? Stop lieing, the newly electd Gov., Rick Scott of florida has the lowest ratingss of any Gov. ever in Florida's history, either Democract or Republican.
You PUBS love to sale the kool-aid as tea and try to "re-write history", and bascally don't know this nation's true history or pretend not too, examples are Michelle Bachman and Sarah Palin who comment ignorantly about this nation's history constantly(laughing).
In fact floridians (Dems & PUBS) .. are talking a petition to recall Rick Scott.

I'll tell you how this is happening: Herman Cain speaks with conviction and his common sense ideas are resonating with normal Americans. To hear him speak, is to like what he says.
For all the folks who were excited to vote for their first black president in 2008, here's your chance at a Mulligan; you chance to get it right this time.
Check out this humorous video highlighting the differences in thinking between conservative Cain and socialist Obama...

Herman Cain is a fiscal conservative and doesn't really get into cultural issues too much. Agree with him or not, he speaks very rationally and makes a lot of sense. And, he doesn't come across as some house negro. You won't hear him bashing blacks all of the time nor does he attack Obama maliciously. Those qualities will make him quite attractive to Independents. I wouldn't vote for him, but I kind of admire the guy. People had better take him seriously.
