From The Root:
Things have not been working out for the Congressional Black Caucus. Between its 43 members, this year the organization has introduced 40 different jobs bills to address the national unemployment rate of 9.1 percent (and 16.2 percent for African Americans in particular). They've met twice with President Obama on the issue. But their legislative efforts haven't gained enough support to pass through Congress. So they've decided to sidestep the usual tactics with a new approach: hitting the road for a multicity jobs tour.

To the CPC (Congressional Progressive Caucus) I'm with Cleaver's point that we do not need a symbolic tour...we need action. Why waste Time, Energy, and Money on a non action tour?!? It doesn't make sense!!

I'm glad that at least the CBC (Congressional Black Caucus) (not to be confiused with the CPC) is trying to do something bc most political groups just talk a lot of smack and don't really do
anything. At least they are addressing the issue. This is something that should have been done a long time ago. Now if the NAACP and other black pundits would get on board maybe we'd be on to something!

To Tavis, All Sharpton and Cornell: At your upcoming Summit please don't debate what the President is or isn't doing. We need solutions not more talk. At least the CBC is finally addressing and trying 2 do something about the jobs situation. Tavis, Al and Cornell would serve the people by trying to do the same. We don't need anymore debates; but solutions.

That's very good advice. But, sadly you and I both know we'll only get more of the same especially from Tavis, and Cornell. It's so sad that black people can continue to have these kinds of so-called "summits", but still can't make any real progress! Strange, but true.

Jobs...did somebody call my name? At least the CBC is not sitting around doing NOTHING. A really good way of looking for jobs and employment solutions is to support those ideas that the truly conservative whites and Blacks oppose. Example: When Fox News' Shawn Hannity was on AM radio here in Atlanta (like his counterfart, Neal Bortz) he was vehemently opposed to the idea of Black people shopping at only Black owned, managed, AND operated establishments -- specifically those located in traditionally Black neighborhoods and communities. Of course, it will certainly take some miraculous efforts to do this as well as insisting on better facilities, products, goods, services, and insisting that deposits of the money be made in Black owned, managed, and operated banks. That money in Black banks was how Black people were able to buy homes, cars, and educate ourselves and our children back before 1964's desegregation of the American public sectors. Enlightened and dedicated consumer/customer, business (owners, managers, employees), and financial institutional efforts have always been the key to any group's uplift. It is now our turn to do this all over AGAIN....we have the God given RIGHT and the OBLIGATION to do so.....stay tuned.

Perhaps you need to check the radar, because the CBC has been literally "missing in action" for God only knows how long! Not, only that the CBC has a history of the same old, tired "do nothing attitude", so again where have they been for the past two years? I continue to see them on the cable news networks, doing exactly what they seems to do best, and that's nothing but the usual talking, talking, and more talking! But, then some want to then turn around and attempt to blame the President. He can't do their job, and shouldn't anyway! What the CBC is talking about doing is tantamount to black folks "marching" ...again! In truth marching hasn't work, and never will at this point we need real action, not another worthless strategy based on empty rhetoric! Until black people get their butts, stop always depending on white people, the government, the President, or Jesus...nothing will ever change. We also have a history of doing little, or nothing in our communities! That's about us as a people, and that's just not happening! I still can understand why black people are continuing to listen to Sharpton, Cornell West, or Tavis. Come on people, we've been down this road way too many times! And, it still appears as though we haven't yet learned!

Greg, don't overlook or discount the "BUY BLACK" message. Also, I checked the radar...the vector readings were included within the opening sentence of the article as follows: ".. the organization (CBC) has introduced 40 different jobs bills...". Like I've done, YOU should try reading one or two of those bils in their entirety from the online version of the Congressional Record. Maybe then you would not be so instinctively inclined to fall for the anti-CBC, anti-Black leadership hype the REAL enemy has programmed some of us to believe. The CBC members -- and unfortunately others like them at the local levels -- are ELECTED by their respective constituencies to introduce, support, and FIGHT for legislation, funding, or resolutions that promote the general well-being of the electorate. Too bad the minuscule CBC membership (only 42) is so vastly outnumbered. Once they go out and beat, rattle, and shake the bushes some with their tour, other members of the US House in sufficient numbers might -- repeat -- just might climb on board one of those bills. The ace in the hole is this: Black citizens are NOT the only ones who need jobs. Some of US just might need them a little worse than others, perhaps.

@Greg: No offense but I could care less what Sean Hannity saids for many many reasons. The main reason is he continually disrespects the President. Doesn't even call him the President...instead refers to President Obama as the annointed one, and of course he's being cynical. As for marching it served it's purpose in the past. Remember Dr. Marin Luther King...if him and others hadn't marched no strides would have been made.

....and multiple members of the Democratic Congressional Black Caucus have contempt for the Constitution, the Rule of Law, and his or her oath of office, so much so, I welcome redistricting at the city, local, county, and state levels in communities predominated by or formerly predominated by U.S. born descendants of slavery!
http://wedrawthelines.ca.gov/commission_staff.html
Attention: Mr. Daniel Claypool, Executive Director (Citizens Redistricting Commission)
http://ceyseau.net/IneptElectedOfficials.html
As a better than 30 year property tax paying resident of the 2nd Los Angeles County District, the 10th Los Angeles City Council District and the State of California, with good reason I welcome redistricting of the 2nd Los Angeles County District and the 8th, 9th, and 10th Los Angeles City Council Districts.
With good reason, I intend to vote against, demand the impeachment, recall and/or firing of President Barack Obama, Congresswoman Karen Bass, 2nd District LA County Supervisor Mark Ridley Thomas, 8th District Councilman Bernard Parks, 10th District City Councilman Herb Wesson, other inept incumbents affiliated with the Democratic Party, inept Deputy Court Clerk Delores Odom Stocks, who signed a default court judgment without authority at my expense, and/or other disgraceful individuals who have contempt for me, contempt for the U.S. Constitution and who have negated his or her first responsibility to honor the oath of office to uphold the U.S. Constitution, the 14th Amendment, “Equal Justice and Protection Under the Law” in behalf of law abiding U.S. born descendants of slaves, such as my parents, Mr. Carl Steadman, Mr. John Thompson, and I, egregiously violated by truly serious wrongs of government.
http://ceyseau.net/
It’s not too late for any of these individuals to redeem his or her character, or to truly make a constructive U.S. history first, to be removed from the “disgrace of the essence of what it means to be an elected official list”, the primary requirement of redemption is to uphold the “Principles to which this Nation Stands” to competently represent U.S. born descendants of slaves.
Sincerely,
Michael L. Lofton
