A federal appeals court on Friday struck down Michigan's ban on the consideration of race and gender in college admissions, saying it burdens minorities and violates the U.S. Constitution. The 2-1 decision upends a sweeping law that forced the University of Michigan and other public schools to change admission policies. The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said the law, approved by voters in 2006, violates the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

That was a wise and scholarly decision by judges R. Guy Cole Jr. and Martha Craig Daughtrey of the Six Circuit Court.
Whites hatred of Blacks and Arab citizens in Michigan is becoming world reknown like Bombingham, Alabama!
Whites try every trick in the book to keep blacks impoverished and distracted from obtaining higher education, employment, and growing!
They economically deprive decided zip-codes by purposefully relocating jobs and hospitals, intentionally ghettorizing neighborhoods, starving and making homeless children who then, and rightly so, don't care to learn in school. So, now the trap is set, the racist whites see the effects of their economic plot and say..ah ha!look how blacks fail! Feeling they've established a reason for their redneck ways, they stick out their chests and, among other things, pass laws for higher learning based on MERITS?...white folks have no merits or civility! They are just a bluff!!!

After busting my butt to make ends meet and keep up with all the things in life, where do you think white people find the time and energy to "keep the black man down".
I'm not even sure what good that accomplishes. Your conspiracy theory has a flaw. If racist white people complain blacks are lazy and need to support themselves, why would they make it hard for them to support themselves.
I'm white and I guess I have missed the " how to hold the black man down " meeting.
I personally agree with the ruling in the article. To be equal, there should just be a name on the paper , not skin color or race.

I graduated from the University of Detroit in 1980 and I do remember things such as Dearborn who wanted to put up a fence / gate to keep Detroiters out of Dearborn. I also recall how Coleman Young used to battle with the suburan leaders on certain matters.
So yes, there were tensions between the city and the suburbs then. Now Southfield has a large black population as well as other suburbs.
To me the real problem was and still is that too many blacks in Detroit and around the country haven't done much to help themselves. Today Detroit is referred to as De-toilet. The city has lost hundred of thousands residents, many neighborhoods has been abandoned, facing large deficits, poor performing schools, high drug rate and high unemployment due to the lost of manufacturing jobs by the big 3.
Yet people like you only complains about the racism- which is there yet the chaldeans were able to overcome it and actually is thriving. Why can't we do that. Most of us is waiting on some divine intervention to magically make all of out problems go away. Well let me tell you something. It's not going to happen. It's up to the individual to take charge of their own lives. If you can't read then learn how to read. Once you know how to read then apply for a trade skill that would help you earn a living. For the days of living on welfare is coming to an end. The republican governor has already pass a law limiting welfare benefits. The world is constanly evolving and if you don't keep up you will fall behind and no one is going to come to rescue you.

you're just talking, you're not thinking nor does it sound like you read/understood the article or my comment. You were too quick in using that same ol song to deny your racism, without comprehension!
The article itself is about how whites use politics and their vote to deny minorities college admissions based on rigged, discrimminatory and disadvantageous "merits", which the judges overturned!!
Next time, read and you may sound like you know what you're talking about...just maybe!

You think every white person wakes up to make your life miseable. Your a pesimist with a distorted world veiw. Your locked in a self imposed time warp and you blame the fruits of your misguided mindset on white people.
Your blogs are always the same. Blame whitie. So go to Detroit, walk in an Arab owned store and buy a tall boy and cry in your beer because life is being so mean to you. Then on your way past the Chineese restaraunt, put in an application. And by the way, swing past the 7-11 and pick me up a pack of smokes and tell the people from India I said hello.

have live in michigan since the late 6o's and this is a racist state, rezoning, taking over whole neighborhoods, profiling, all this is well and alive in this state. But remember, George Bush, the son this was his first act in office to start a law suit in michigan on the behalf of the white race that the policies of admitting students into colleges were wrong base on the fact that one white student over the last 500 years lost out to someone of another shade of hue

If the Lord can separate the sheep from the goats,what's the beef.
I read blacks on this site complaining about the Asians, Mexicans and others and saying what they should do and not do and where they should be allowed.
Blacks seem to have a double standard. Many non blacks want fairness involving blacks.
