I hope former Alaska governor Sarah Palin does run for President. First of all, I think she'd get clobbered.

Secondly, if this country is crazy enough to elect her, then we'll deserve whatever punishment, er, I mean policies, she dishes out during her four short years in office. Why four? She probably wouldn't get a second term.

In fact, many people believe that she'd likely overtake George W. Bush for title of worst president ever.

But in reality, I think Palin, in announcing plans to visit Iowa, usually the domain of presidential hopefuls, has learned how to work the media money machine and is just trying to make as much money as possible before her star falls.

NEW YORK
(CBS) Following in the footsteps of Kim Kardashian and Lady Gaga, pop star Rihanna now also has a wax statue courtesy of Madame Tussauds.

According to CNN.com, The 22-year-old 'Rude Boy' singer's wax figure recalls the singer's trend-setting blonde cropped hairdo from 2009 and is clothed in an all-black Balmain ensemble she wore to the designer's runway show during Spring 2010 Fashion Week in Paris.

Rihanna posed next to her likeness, puckering her lips to give a smooch, in an image posted on her Twitter account.

The wax replica of the songstress can be found at the Madame Tussauds in Washington, D.C., which also houses the likenesses of other political and pop culture figures, including President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Madonna, Angelina Jolie and Beyonce.

Madame Tussauds is also celebrating the statue with a special promotion. Visitors can get "buy one, get one free" admission to the D.C. Madame Tussauds to see the statue if they mention the word "umbrella" -- "ella, ella" notwithstanding -- between now and Sept. 30.

Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson says she'll repay scholarship funds by
Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (pictured) says she will pay back the college scholarship money that she gave to her relatives from the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Foundation.

The Dallas Morning News, which broke the story, says Johnson (D-Texas) gave 23 scholarships, totaling $25,000, to two of her grandsons, two of her grandnephews, and to the son and daughter of a district aide since 2005.

The private money came from the CBC Foundation, which supposedly operates separately from the CBC, and represents the 42 black lawmakers in Congress. The foundation has clearly stated rules that scholarship applicants cannot be related to the foundation, staff, sponsors or members of the CBC.

States Still Sentence Crack Far More Stiffly Than Powder

Years ago, when the federal government created disparities in the sentencing of crack versus powder cocaine, many states followed suit. As a result, the black community was devastated with Draconian prison sentences, in which individuals with barely enough crack to weigh were given dozens of years in the penitentiary.

The federal government finally came to its senses and changed the law, making it marginally more equitable than it was before. The problem now though is that many states have not yet made the same change.

7 States Suing Feds Also Seek Health Subsidies

Seven of the states suing the Obama administration over its health care reform law are benefitting from monies provided under the new law.

Twenty states are suing because they say the law, which requires individuals to have health insurance, is an attempt by the federal government to overreach its authority.

However, seven of those states -- Arizona, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Nebraska and Nevada -- are also receiving money provided under the new law to cover health care costs of retired state employees, and six of the states are headed by Republican governors.

Maybe the heads of these states should listen to William Shakespeare, who said, "It is a good divine that follows his own instructions."

How hypocritical is it to sue regarding a law on one hand, while collecting money from that same law on the other?
