Lawrence Taylor, Rasheed Davis

Although the public is well aware of the underage sex charge against former NFL great Lawrence Taylor (pictured), most people are not familiar with the man who allegedly made it all happen.

Rasheed Davis, 37, has finally pleaded guilty to pimping a 16-year-old girl to Taylor. Davis has agreed to give back the $300 Taylor paid to him and may also face more than eight years in prison.

"I knew what I was doing was against the law," Davis said to the judge in Manhattan Federal Court. "It was my intent to seek some financial gain."

The notion of the musician behaving badly is nothing new to our society. We've seen artists addicted to drugs, those who abuse women and even those who've been accused of getting naked with little children. The public doesn't respond to every artist's poor choices in the same way: Some of them are able to pick right back up and keep going, while some artists are never invited into a music studio again.

James Mandarino: Police Officer Found Guilty of Beating Motorist at Traffic Stop

James Mandarino
, an officer with the Streamwood Police Force in Illinois, was convicted this week by a judge who watched his videotaped beating of a motorist. He was found guilty of aggravated battery and official misconduct.

"Any rational analysis [of the video] will show that the conduct of the defendant was wrong, just plain wrong, unprovoked, unnecessary and unacceptable," said Cook County Circuit Judge Thomas Fecarotta Jr.

Bill Maher: GOP Scared of Blacks Except Cosby and Urkel

Comedian and TV show host Bill Maher made some interesting remarks the other day on his show about GOP fear and racial tension. During a segment in which he posted a picture of members of the New Black Panther Party, Maher noted that Republicans generally "soil their adult diapers" when confronted by people of color. He did, however, note one exception:

"Every black person scares you (GOP) unless they look like Urkel, talk like Colin Powell and wear Bill Cosby sweaters."

I'm not sure what to believe in the odd story about Wyclef Jean. Over the weekend, CNN issued a shocking report, stating that Jean had been shot in his hand during a campaign stop in Haiti. I immediately took to my laptop in my bathrobe, trying to find out if he was okay. With the respect that Wyclef carries throughout the world, it would be tragic if something were to happen to him.

Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem has taken a very active role in securing the legal rights of one of their parishioners. Afrika Owes is a 17-year-old girl who will soon be on trial for felony charges related to gun and drug trafficking. What makes her unique is that she was also a top student, bound for an Ivy League university. The theory among those who support Owes is that her involvement with the gun and drug trade came largely from undue influence from her boyfriend, Jaquan Layne, who was allegedly running the gang from Rikers Island Prison.

Juan Williams
, the most peculiar black journalist in America, made yet another statement that has heads turning.

Williams made the argument that there's nothing wrong with people saying that young black men make them nervous.

In a conversation with Dr. Caroline Helmand, a professor at Occidental College, Williams stood the Fox News line by basically refuting Helman's assertion that it would be bigoted for a person to say that they clutch their purse every time a black man walks by. The dialogue went like this:

Farrakhan Issues Stern Warning to President Obama About Attacking Libya

In his usually powerful way, the Minister Louis Farrakhan has taken to the public airwaves to address the U.S. government's decision to attack Libya. Jonathan Zimmerman (pictured), a 26-year-old New Yorker, is suing the New York Police Department (NYPD), after he had to have a prong from a Taser surgically removed from his back.

Zimmerman was sitting in his car with a friend outside her Bedford-Stuyvesant home, and a uniformed officer wrote him a ticket for allegedly being double-parked.

When Zimmerman began to argue with the officer for writing the ticket, he was ordered out of the car. Zimmerman, a security guard, refused to comply. This is when an officer allegedly grabbed the keys from his ignition and maced him in the face.

Zimmerman was also tasered at the same time.
