The Democrats have not shown America enough to be confident during their reign as a supe-rmajority, and it will cost them in the universal health care effort.

Throughout the past few election cycles, the Democratic Party has seen many victories.

Change was the mantra that spread along the campaign trail last fall.

Hope was the belief held by many during the inauguration ceremonies in January.

Everything that people want in new leadership has been present, except for one thing: on-going confidence.

And that will keep the Democrats from taking the next step as leaders within government as we watch them lose the health care debate. ...

Liberals call them angry mobs and paid operatives. Conservatives call them fed-up Americans and everyday patriots. We call them debaters on a hotly contested issue in the heat of the summer. And we better continue calling it "American" if we want to uplift our nation the right way.

If you think we've entered the dog days of summer, stay tuned to the town hall discussions on the health care debate.

Once again, we are seeing evidence that the unity the 2008 election was supposed to inspire has not come to fruition. I know that many will say the Republicans are out there planting operatives to feed the heated debate. In fact, such actions have led some Americans – including Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi – to call the protest "un-American."...

Why is FOX's Glenn Beck painting the green movement red with his talk of black nationalism, a vast left-wing conspiracy and communism?

I know, it sounds like a redo of Dave Chappelle's 'When Keepin' It Real Goes Wrong.'

Well, in some ways, it is. This is very real, and, for many, this is very wrong.

Beck's explanation of the involvement of Van Jones, special advisor for green jobs, enterprise and innovation, in the Obama administration is exactly why conservatives love Beck and why others are turned off by the political right.

Beck took time to sidestep Jones' evident love for the environment and its studies (something I witnessed first-hand earlier this year), instead alluding to his arrest during the Rodney King incident of 1991 (almost 20 years ago) and a one-off tie to ACORN and other cohorts in the "vast left-wing conspiracy."

Watch the video. ...

It will spark chagrin or calls for celebration, but former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is back.

Folks on both sides of the political aisle are rejoicing, and folks on both sides of the political aisle are frowning.

Oddly enough, much of Palin's appeal is the fact that she can elicit very different responses from the same groups of people.

The Sonia Sotomayor confirmation hearings may be short on punchlines, but there is enough material to make you wonder who's getting the last laugh.

I turned on the TV to catch the opening remarks. The things I saw had me wondering if this is all a joke?

Sen. Al Franken attended as a member of the Judiciary Committee. Really? He went from jokes and comedy to sitting on the Judiciary Committee -- with a Supreme Court nomination on the line no less – in one fell swoop?

Ever since the zinging announcement of a popular governor from a far away state as the pick for the GOP's VP slot, the Barracuda has lost her bite.

In the realm of traditional politics – where politicians are only as good as their words and campaign promises – we are told to expect service and vigilance for the interest of the people.

In the realm of today's politics – where people are celebrities and they speak in sound bites, not words – we know that we can expect anything from our politicians, including service for vanity and self-interest. ...

The political war over Judge Sonia Sotomayor's nomination as the next Supreme Court justice may have gained some vigor this week with the latest ruling by her potential peers.

"The Supreme Court ruled that discrimination is always discrimination, regardless of who is doing the discriminating and who is being discriminated against."

And I knew that it was on from there.

The latest decision from the Supreme Court to overturn the New Haven, Conn., firefighters' case will have an impact on the deliberations surrounding Sotomayor. Even if this doesn't play out big time in the confirmation process, it will play out in a big way in public opinion forums.

To many, this majority ruling will symbolize several things. ...
